Sunday 15 March 2015. Pleasant Sunday Ride (and Drive)

Sunday after church, a group of us on bikes and in cars took the back roads from Redcliffe to Esk. The highlight of the ride was Neurum Road between Woodford and Kilcoy. I have only been on this road once before, when Mark K took me along there as a reconniture for this event. It really is a great view all along.

At Kilcoy, the main group all caught up at Yowie Park, including Greg and Desley in the Cobra replica that Greg has built himself. Quite a beast. From there to Esk via Somerset and lunch. It was great to see my parents were there waiting for us. After that the return journey was up over Mount Glorious, Samford and then home.

Teammoto Adventure night, Thursday 5 Mar 2015

A bunch of us from Horizons Unlimited attended the Teammoto Adventure night at their Virginia dealership. We had a great time and learnt a little too. The DR800 even won a prize. I think it was for best Adventure Bike up to 800cc, but not sure. Anyhow, I now have $20.00 store credit at Teammoto which I think I will use for a new clutch cable. The bike has almost 95,000 kilometres on it and so if I have all waer and tear items resolved by the time it reaches 99,999 kilomteres, it will tick ovet to 00,000 as a new bike ... well sortoff anyhow.

Here is a picture of some of us. There were are few more from HU that had to leave earlier.

Saturday 31 January 2015. Riding with Horizons Unlimited, South East Queensland

Planning has started for our annual get together. As part of the planning process, the team that rides together, stays together. So here are a few of us on the dirt and back roads between Esk, Hampton and Crows Nest.

Tool Day!!

The weather in Dallas has not been kind to us and it was a relief to hand back the rental car a few days ago. Tomorrow we are off to an ice hockey game and the weather will be better hopefully.

Anyhow, what to do when in a strange city with freezing temparatures and lots of rain. Go to discount tool stores of course! I had heard from several Youtube publishers of a store called Harbor Freight and we found one nearby. Caught a lift and spent up big. $41.58 all up.  A comparison of some of the tools and prices back home:

Spark plug boot puller
US$2.95  converted to AUS$3.60 roughly, although I have never seen such a tool at home. It should help preserve the connection between the spark plug lead and end.

Small spring puller
US$4.99 converted to AUS$6.00 roughly. I have never seen one for less than $15.00 at home.

Helping hands and magnifying glass.
US$3.49 converted to AUS$4.20 roughly. In two separate shops at home, $13.00.

Mechanics stethoscope
US$3.99 converted to AUS$4.80 roughly. At home, if you can get one, $30.00.

Exhaust expander. I can use this for custom exhaust parts but can not find one in Australia at all. US$9.99. This may save me hundreds in work I can now do myself that I had to send out previously.

A good day.

Lane Motor Museum, Nashville

This post is from a few days ago. A wonderful museum devoted to quirky cars and motorcycles. All good fun and you learn so much.

Four States Auto Museum, Texarkana

A not for profit museum put together by a bunch of local guys. Just brilliant. Met another adventure bike rider as well, Scott, who rides a KLR650 off road in Arkansas.
